Makeup, Skin Care and Hair Care Tips My Mom Taught Me!

For most of us its our Mom's who teach us about makeup and skin care. I will never forget the day my Mom told me I needed to pluck my eyebrows. Lets just say Brooke Shields had nothing on me! Well I didn't want to pluck my overgrown brows. So my sweet, very petite Mama and my younger sister who had been plucking hers for months, jokingly held me down for the "procedure"! Boy am I so glad they did! It literally opened up my face! I thought I would share some tips my Mom taught me when I was learning all things beauty! Some tips you've probably heard a million times before some may be new to you but for my Mama and her two girls these were the basics growing up!

~ Keep your hands off your face.
~ When you are at home keep your bangs off your for head and face.
~ Don't over pluck your brows (you probably need a professional to pluck or wax your brows the first time)
~ Keep your nails painted a light color most of the time.
~ Home for the day don't wear foundation.
~ Home for the night wash at least your face makeup off.
~ ALWAYS wash your face at night! NEVER sleep in your makeup!
~ Change your pillow case every night if you have oily skin.
~ Use oil free products.
~ Don't pull on your face especially the eye area.
~ Use eye cream even if you're young.
~ Wash neck using upward motion.
~ Never wash your face in hot water. Cool, crisp water is the best for your face.
~ Wash your face after you wash your hair.
~ After conditioning hair rise in cool/cold water.
~ Give your toenails a polish break in the Winter at least a few weeks.
~ Drink water and lots of it.
~ Change shampoo and conditioner every now and then.
~ Do a deep conditioner on your hair every 6-8 weeks.
~ Moisturize a freshly washed face and body.
~ Always curl your eyelashes.
~ Wear blush it makes you look alive.

Lyndsie & Daniel

Lyndsie and Daniels wedding day was a wonderful day for our family! Daniel is my husbands younger brother and I have known Lyndsie since she was a little girl. When Lyndsie asked me to do the makeup for her wedding day, I was beyond honored! My sister Bethany did most of the hair and I did most of the makeup for the bridal party. Brian and I are so blessed to call Lyndsie and Daniel some of our very best friends!

I love doing the makeup for the Mother of the bride! So many times they have focused so much of their attention on their daughter, that this is an amazing chance to make Mom feel beautiful on the day they watch their daughter become a wife!

Little Blushing Bride!

This precious girl belongs to me! For our annual Hopefest at church my little girl Rinna Beth was a bride! She loves Hopefest for lots of reasons but this little girl could not wait for Mommy to put makeup on her! I love doing her makeup besides the occasional swipe of Mommy's lip gloss this is a BIG deal! I love seeing what her eyelashes look like with mascara on them! I don't buy costumes we use what we have and get creative. Her dress was her flower girl dress for my brother in law and sister in law's wedding! Rinna Beth and I went on a special shopping trip to Hobby Lobby for her $7.00 veil and the tacky clear shoes $1.00 at a yard sale! She loves the shoes the best dollar I've spent lately! She clacks up and down on the hard wood floors in her "Cinderella" shoes all day long! I only had one small "moment" when she lifted her dress, I mean just like a real bride, for me to put her shoes on her! WOW! I realize time really does fly by and all too soon this will be the real thing. I plan on cherishing every minute I have with my precious 4 year old girl!

Blushing Bride- Mandy

Mandy and Chase were married August 11, 2007. I had the priveledge of being Mandy's and several of her bridesmaids makeup artist while my sister Bethany styled their hair for the wedding . I may have officially met Mandy through makeup but she is a sweet friend of mine today!

The best part of this post is that Mandy and Chase are awaiting the arrival of their first baby, a boy due any day now! I am so excited for you Mandy as you become a Mommy to your sweet gift from God! Congratulations Mandy and Chase!
